Before and After - Entry table

**This post is linked up to DYI Day at A Soft Place to Land, Trash to Treasure Tuesday at Reinvented and Transformation Thursday at the Shabby Chic Cottage!. Take a look for some great DIY projects!

Ok, I am going to preface this post by saying I am by no means a professional painter or decorator (which you will probably quickly figure out). I have recently found a new obsession, and if you happen to know me personally you know this happens about every week or so. I have wanted to start a gift basket company, make tumbled marble coasters, make and decorate personalized fortune cookies for every occasion (this I actually attempted to start and my cookies were stinkin' good if I do say so myself), write a children's book (revisited), coupon, learn to sew, teach a class, write a blog, and now refurbishing furniture. By the way, those "ideas" listed all took place over about the last month give or take. So the fact that I am now couponing, writing a blog, and refurbishing furniture is a HUGE accomplishment. What is that, 3 out of 9? Not bad for me.

So with that said, I bought and refurbished my first piece of furniture this weekend! Needless to say, I...AM....STOKED. We have NEEDED an entry table for a good while now to act as a catch all for our keys, mail, sunglasses, etc. Well, I somehow convinced (and surprisingly to their liking) my brother and his girlfriend to parade around to half a dozen thrift stores while they were here visiting me this past weekend (here is your shout out guys... you're famous!). I am thrilled they agreed because we scored some great stuff.

One of the stores we went to was the Habitat for Humanity store. If you don't know what that is, it’s basically like a hodgepodge of home stuff. There are salvaged pieces from old homes, and new things from homes they are building, and donated goods ranging anywhere from doors to lighting fixtures to furniture to books.

I was lucky enough to cash in on this little treasure. It is actually an old sewing table, but there was no sewing machine, so unlike its counterpart who in fact did have a sewing machine intact that was priced at $45, I scored this beaut for $20.

Now, after a 2 day love affair with this little thing... Here is what now stands in our back entry way!

For a first attempt... I love it. It fits perfectly, and is so pretty! If you can find a better looking table for $20, dont send it to me because I'm happy with this one :)

I have also done the fireplace at our house (which I only have a before pic for as of right now) but keep a look out for that Before and After post!
